Physical Medicine Sessions
Physical treatment is a form of drug-free non-invasive manual medicine that focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the joints, muscles and spine. Its aim is to positively affect the body's nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems.
Naturopathy is a unique holistic (whole body) approach to health care. Naturopaths do not simply concentrate on treating the problem area, but use manual techniques to balance all the systems of the body, to provide overall good health and wellbeing.
What does Naturopathy involve?
The natural treatment works more than you think. In your first visit to Heath Integrative, your complete medical history will be taken and questions will be asked about lifestyle, diet and emotional status.
Each individual is different and the treatment will be designed to suit the specific individual. The majority of treatments are carried out by hand and commonly used to correct poor alignment or function of the joints which can improve the range of movement.
The treatment is often coupled with practical advice which may concern the type of lifestyle a patient leads, their diet and other practicalities that lead to better health overall.
Benefits of Naturopathic Treatment
Naturopathic physicians respect the body's natural ability as a self-regulating mechanism but can intervene when pain or discomfort is present. The benefits are the general improvement in mobility and structural stability of the body. Here’s what you can expect from the treatment:
1. Pain and stress relief
2. Better sleep
3. Improved mobility and range of motion
4. Faster healing of injuries, surgeries and trauma
5. Improved immune system, circulation and breathing
6. Enhanced natural healing mechanisms in the body
7. Greater vitality
8. Improved mood, relief for anxiety/depression
9. Focus on health, not disease
10. Provides preventative care
11. Treats the whole person, not just disease, body part or organ
12. Incorporates an integrated approach to health
13. Possible reduced need for medication or surgery
What to expect
A treatment plan is designed taking into account medical history and past traumas, and after an examination that implies more than just orthopedic testing, and requests a refined palpation of the tissues to detect anomalies and dysfunctions.
Dr Moreau's proud to offer an affordable and rather efficient access to physical medicine to patients who suffer from muscular, tendinous, ligamentous dysfunctions as well as those in need of a more functional and drugless approach to common ailments seen in general practice.
**Physical medicine does imply a fair amount of hands-on treatment; it is advisable that patients wear comfortable undergarments. Gowns are also offered before treatment.
Naturopathic medical approach
Dr Moreau's interest as a Naturopathic Physician is more aligned with his osteopathic training in the UK and blends selectively with his medical background. Dr Moreau uses combined skill sets and medical knowledge to treat the whole patient without referring them to other specialists for treatment of physical conditions.
Naturopathic medicine allows to reach new dimensions in general practice especially when patients expect a drugless approach to healthcare.
